Bright Young Things 2013

I am one of these people who gets more excited about new designers than I do about the big power fashion houses. Mainly because being in London mean that the new, young designers tend to bring out the more interesting and conceptual pieces that I am more than happy to spend a pretty penny on.

So when September rolls around and LFW is just around the corner, I always look forward to Selfridges initiative: Bright Young Things. The super-department store selects 15 new creative talents in various fields, from womenswear to accessories to food and not only gives them retail space but their own window to showcase their items as well as a t-shirt designed by them to sell in store (retailing at £45 each which makes them the perfect item to snap up pre-London Fashion Week). The lucky 15 this year are:

  • Williams British Homemade (Accessories)
  • Sadie Williams (Womenswear)
  • Alan Taylor (Menswear)
  • Keely Hunter (Millinery)
  • Anna Lomax (Set Design)
  • Eleanor Davies (Art)
  • Clementine Keith-Roach (Set Design)
  • Katy Beveridge (Animation)
  • The Co Project (Accessories)
  • Yeashin (Womenswear)
  • Grace Hamilton (Accessories)
  • Hiroaki Kanai (Menswear)
  • AVM Curiosities (Food)
  • The Poundshop (Collective)
  • Daniel Pollitt (Womenswear)

The collections from these 15 are now available at selfridges.com and in store and the T-shirt collection will be available from 2 September. Make sure you check out the in-store events too. Each one of the Bright Young Things will be hosting an event throughout September-October and there will be some very fun things lined up! From making your own hat to cocktails to scarf printing, just drop the team an email to book your place.
